What the app does
- AI chat in Chrome's side panel: ask questions, summarize or translate the page you are reading, generate images.
- Gmail: summarize an email thread and draft a reply that the user reviews and sends themselves.
- Google Sheets, Docs and Slides: after the user chooses to sign in with Google, the AI edits the file the user has open at their request — for example builds a table with formulas, rewrites a paragraph or adds a slide. Every change can be undone with one click.
Why the app requests Google user data
Signing in with Google is optional. It is only needed for editing Google Sheets, Docs and Slides. GPT-6.1 Workspace requests these permissions:
- See your email address — to show which Google account is connected.
- See, edit, create and delete your Google Sheets spreadsheets — to read the open spreadsheet and write the values, formulas and formatting the user asked for.
- See, edit, create and delete your Google Docs documents — to read the open document and write the text changes the user asked for.
- See, edit, create and delete your Google Slides presentations — to read the open presentation and change slide text or add slides the user asked for.
The app uses this access only for the single file open in the user's browser tab and only when the user asks for an edit. It never reads files in the background and never lists or searches the user's Google Drive. The Google access token stays in the user's browser and is never sent to our server.
How Google user data is handled
To prepare an edit, the content of the open file and the user's request are sent over HTTPS to our server and our AI provider (OpenRouter, routing to OpenAI) and the result is written back into the same file. Google user data is not stored on our servers, not sold, not used for advertising and not used to train AI models.
GPT-6.1 Workspace's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Users can disconnect Google at any time in the extension menu or at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
Prohibited use
GPT-6.1 Workspace is a productivity tool for writing, data and presentations. It is strictly prohibited to use it to create non-consensual intimate imagery (NCII), sexual or intimate imagery of real people, or any other illegal or harmful content. Google APIs are used only to edit the user's own Sheets, Docs and Slides at their request. See our Terms of Use.
